Empowering students aged 6-18 to use AI for solving real-world problems, Making AI education accessible, inclusive, and impactful worldwide.
WAICY inspires young learners to see AI as a tool for innovation and positive change. Through project-based competitions, students think critically, collaborate, and design ethical, sustainable solutions.
Each year, thousands of participants from 150+ countries join this global community, breaking barriers of cost and location. WAICY envisions AI as an integral part of early education—preparing future generations to shape a better world.
Everything you need to know about joining WAICY and becoming part of the global AI community
WAICY is open to students aged 6-18 worldwide. They may register individually or in teams of 3-5. No prior coding or AI experience is required—creativity in any form (programming, design, storytelling, or ideas) is encouraged.
Participation costs PKR 1,200 per student, covering resources, support, and local coordination. However, students who are unable to pay may request a fee waiver. No student will be denied participation due to inability to pay.
Students can compete virtually or in-person. Local editions are held in some countries, and winners automatically qualify for the global finals.
Submissions can include AI-powered apps, generative art, or videos—so long as they use AI to tackle a real-world issue. Students are encouraged to design and build robotics projects or physical models as part of their WAICY submission. These models can showcase how AI works in real life. Since the models cannot be submitted physically, participants should create a short video demonstration of their prototype and present it along with their project report and presentation.
WAICY now includes students from 150+ countries, offering equal opportunities for learners everywhere to join this global AI movement.
Since 2018, WAICY has grown from a small pilot to one of the world's largest youth AI competitions.
